Managing Illness

Dealing with an illness, new or old, creates a lot of change in your life and your body. These changes can lead to anxiety, depression, fear, anger, to name a few. Together we can come up with strategies and tools to better manage these symptoms.

Cancer Care

Whether it’s a new diagnosis, dealing with side effects, or trying to figure out, “what now” when treatment is over; we can help you process this trauma to your body and find your way to a new normal.

Healthcare Navigation

If dealing with the medical system feels like a foreign country and language, we’ve got you covered. We can help you figure out how to advocate for yourself and get the care you deserve.

Grief and Loss

Grief is defined as, “the normal and natural emotional reaction to loss or change of any kind”. So much of what we experience as anger and sadness is actually grief. And while it’s all completely normal, we don’t talk about it nearly enough and that can leave you feeling alone. By simply talking about your grief we can help you move through it so you don’t get stuck.

Frequently Asked Questions

What insurance do you take?

We are in-network for Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO, United Healthcare, and Cigna. It is always a good idea to contact your provider (or look at their online portal) to verify we are in-network.

If you have another insurance carrier, don’t worry! Most, if not all, plans provide coverage for out-of-network mental health services. This is typically covered at 60-70% plus your co-pay and often equates to a cost of approximately $30-50 per session. It does require you to pay up front at the time of service. Then we provide a form to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. This can be done at each session or monthly, whichever you prefer.

You can usually find all your benefits on your plan’s website under Behavioral Health or Mental Health Services.

*Keep in mind insurance costs can be impacted by whether or not your deductible has been met for the year

What are the costs without insurance?

If you do not have insurance or prefer to pay out of pocket here is the fee schedule:

  • Initial/intake session – $150
  • Standard 50 min session – $130
  • 30 min session – $65
  • Consultations for healthcare navigation only – by request (customized cost)

We don’t offer sliding scale, instead we offer 30 min sessions as a more affordable option. This does require more active participation between sessions in order to maximize our time together.

*$60 cancellation fee without 24 hour notice

How often will we meet?

That all depends on your needs. We typically recommend starting with weekly sessions to start to really address your concerns. But we can determine this together
